The Modern Family Center at Spence-Chapin works with doctors, nurses, social workers, psychologists, hospital staff, and other medical professionals to meet the emotional needs of families. We offer presentations on a variety of topics in formats ranging from one-hour seminars to full day workshops.

The Modern Family Center at Spence-Chapin provides religious leaders and their congregations with the resources to support all types of families.  Invite us to your place of worship. We’ll come speak to your congregation about building a more inclusive community and creating awareness and sensitivity.

ADOPTION PROFESSIONALS

The Modern Family Center at Spence-Chapin provides expert advice to adoption professionals so you can provide the education and support adoptive families need at different life stages. We offer consultations, seminars, and workshops to professionals who are looking to build their own expertise when it comes to providing individuals, couples, and families lifelong support. 

SCHOOLS

The Modern Family Center at Spence-Chapin offers professional development seminars to school staff to support students and their families. Our seminars include interactive activities, case examples from current research, and recommendations on how to encourage peer support and respect. Parents can feel confident that their kids are in a culturally sensitive and supportive environment.

CAMPS

Is your kid going to summer camp? So are we! The Modern Family Center at Spence-Chapin offers a summer camp program that includes sensitivity and awareness trainings for camp staff and counselors on a variety of topics, including adoption, divorce and co-parenting, blended families, LGBT parenting, and families formed through assisted reproductive technology. The program includes a kids group that with interactive, creative activities that encourage campers to share their experiences and explore their identity in a fun, safe, and non-judgmental space.
